Optimism marks Ligna Fair

HANNOVER, GERMANY — Increased optimism, about the economy in general and the woodworking industry specifically, seemed to be a theme among exhibitors at the Ligna Fair. A number of machinery exhibitors recorded strong levels of buyer interest — and also sales —at this year's fair.

Ligna, which is held bi-annually, is the largest woodworking show in the world. It features innovative products for both the primary and secondary woodworking industries.

“People are coming with money, and they see opportunities. Those that are here are ready to buy,” said one exhibitor.

“They are here to do business. For me, that is very positive,” said another.

The big draw to Ligna for many of the national and international attendees is the opportunity to see new and developing technology at one venue. A full report on the new technology will be in the July issue of Wood & Wood Products. More information on the Ligna Fair also can be found at ligna.de.
