HICKORY, NC –Contact furniture manufacturer, Quaker Furniture Inc., announced it changed its name to Studio Q Furniture, according to The Charlotte Observer. The company has created new sales and marketing materials that will be unveiled at the end of the month.

HNI Corp. Announces 2Q Sales Slide

MUSCATINE, IA – HNI Corp. announced its sales for the second quarter, which ended June 30. The company reported sales of $618.2 million, which is down 7.4% compared to the same period last year. According to the release, the company’s gross margin decreased 7.7% and operating income was down 6.7%, compared to the prior year period.

Altendorf America Rechristens as Stiles Shop Solutions

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Stiles Shop Solutions is the new name of Altendorf America, a sales division of Stiles Machinery Inc. Stiles Shop Solutions debuted at the AWFS Fair in Las Vegas, replacing the 22-year-old divisional name. The new name was chosen based on research and analysis of the entry to mid-size markets.

Ethan Allen Sales Slide 5.2% in 4Q

DANBURY, CT – Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. reported sales of $258.5 million for its fourth quarter ended June 30, a 5.2% decline from the same period a year ago. For the 12 months ended June 30, 2007, net delivered sales totaled $1.005 billion as compared to $1.066 billion in the prior year.

BlueLinx Distribution Center Maintains OSHA ‘Star’ Status

BELLINGHAM, MA – BlueLinx Corp.’s Bellingham building products distribution center has been recertified for an additional five-year membership in the “Star” Voluntary Protection Program of the U.S. Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration. It is one of 17 BlueLinx facilities in 11 states that have achieved VPP status.

Weyerhaeuser Sells Oregon Plywood Mill

FEDERAL WAY, WA – Weyerhaeuser Co. announced the sale of its plywood mill in Springfield, OR, to Pacific States Industries Inc. of San Jose, CA. Due to market conditions, the Springfield facility has been closed since December 2006. At the time it employed 87 people. “The plywood operations at Springfield will compliment our existing production of veneer in Creswell, Oregon,” said Austin Vanderhoof, executive vice president of Pacific States Industries.
