TROY, N.Y. -- CNC Software, Inc., the developers of Mastercam, recently attended the grand opening of the Gene Haas Center for Advanced Manufacturing Skills at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy. This 37,000 square foot manufacturing center will train CNC machinists, toolmakers, CNC programmers, and industrial maintenance personnel.

The grand opening of the Gene Haas CAMS facility was a high-profile event, with leadership from the Gene Haas Foundation, Mastercam and other sponsoring partners, and area politicians and officials joining the HVCC community of students and educators.

Mastercam is the exclusive CAM sponsor of the CAMS facility, which includes multiple CAD/CAM labs. One of the labs is a designated Mastercam-sponsored lab, with a plaque in the hallway acknowledging the company’s commitment to shaping the future of manufacturing.

“We are incredibly proud to be sponsors of this lab and to be partnering with such an incredible facility that’s pushing out the workforce of tomorrow, shared Meghan West, president and CEO of CNC Software, Inc. “Workforce development is such an important initiative and it’s addressing the skills gap that is affecting not just us, but everybody here in the United States and worldwide.”

According to Dave Larkin, professor at HVCC, “We had a lot of choices of where we wanted to go with CAD and CAM, and based on our experience, we wanted to stay and go with Mastercam. We find that most of our customers around here are Mastercam manufacturing firms”. He continued, “We have about twenty partners here, and Mastercam is one of our most important ones.”
