Fir Flagpole, Age 1,100, Reclaimed as Bookmatched Plank Table

At Custom wood shop Against the Grain Studio, Portland, OR, Malachi Milbourn and his team join with Creative Woodworking Northwest and local wood turner Kevin Poest, to reclaim an 1,100 year old heartwood fir. Placed as a high-rise flagpole a century ago, it was sawn, planed and belt sanded on a Costa, resawn on a  Stenner, then meticulously finish sanded with a Rotex hand sander, yielding a book-matched plank table.
