Germany's Homag bought out Stiles Machinery, amid a rapidly expanding wood manufacturing business. Stiles 22% growth rate will continue for several years, Homag says. The rosy outlook was confirmed by big turnouts for the 2014 KBIS and Builders Shows, which ran Feb. 4-6 this week in Las Vegas. Crowds, which totaled more than 75,000, were steady through to the very end of the co-located design and construction events, which saw builders, contractpors, remodelers and kitchen and bath designers swarming four sprawling halls as the Las Vegas Convention Center.
As the shows were drawing to a close, the stock market surged, reflecting positive employment reports, and upbeat reports such as The National Retail Federation 2014 economic forecast, projecting retail industry sales will increase 4.1%, almost 10% faster than previously forecast.
