A U.S. Harp Genius Built a Factory Using Italy's Cabinet Masters

The Chicago-born global master of harp manufacturing, Victor Salvi, died May 10, at age 95. In 1955, Salvi emigrated to his ancestral home, Italy, where he assembled a dozen cabinetmakers in Genoa, and began building harps commercially.

An MDF Armchair Was Inspired by Marilyn Monroe and CNC Routers

Furniture maker Alexander White says his Monroe Chair armchair, made of MDF, was inspired by the iconic image of Marilyn Monroe's blowing skirt in scene in the Bill Wilder's 1955 movie, "The Seven Year Itch." It exploits the a nesting CNC router making repeated cuts from a panel.
