Housing Activity Growth Tracked in Metro Markets

Research from the National Association of Home Builders/First American Leading Markets Index (LMI) found that nearly 17% of roughly 350 U.S. metro markets returned or exceeded their last usual levels of economic and housing activity.

Despite weather issues and lower margins, Bassett Furniture Industries reported consolidated net sales of $75.6 million for the first quarter 2014, compared to $79.8 million in 2013, which had the benefit of an extra week in the fiscal period.

EPA Composite Wood Formaldehyde Rule Reopened for Comment

Woodworking manufacturers that use or produce composite panels have until May 8 to submit comments to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on the proposed Formaldehyde Emissions Standards for Composite Wood Products rule, originally issued June 2013.
