Cabinetry manufacturing may relocate from New York to Louisville for Compass Manufacturing, which applied for a state grant. The start-up, launched last year and exhibiting its cabinets and plumbing fixtures at KBIS in Chicago, was awarded an initial grant by Kentucky.
Also in Kentucky, Select Veneer was acquired by wood manufacturing leader Eggers Industries. Acquisitions are heating up in the wood industry as companies position themselves for recovery, with a spate investment and acquisitions in the recovering wood industry over the past few weeks, including Masonite, which acquired Lemieux Doors.
Also intriguing: a video shows oepration of a hand-held CNC router, presented at Siggraph by MIT students.
