McKillican International has been awarded FSC’s Pacific North West Business Champion Award for 2010. The Forest Stewardship Council awards this prestigious award for outstanding performance to a business that demonstrates extraordinary efforts to sustain our forests and expand the market for FSC-certified products. Only 4 companies across North America have been chosen for this award.

The award was presented by Corey Brikema, President FSC-US and Ian Hanna Director of Development to Paul Nystrom, Director of Specifications and Environmental products for McKillican.

The Presentation was made at the FSC Regional Workshop held 1-11-2011 in Seattle WA

Nystrom states that receiving this award shows McKillican’s commitment to the stewardship of our forests and responsible distribution in the wood and panel sector.

The roots of McKillican came from the wood industry. Gary McKillican started this company as McKillican Hardwood and those beginnings are proudly entrenched in our current day philosophy of supporting responsible forestry practices.

Company History

In 1978, Gary started McKillican Hardwood Limited and carried on the distribution of hardwood lumber and plywood.

Hardware was added with acquisition of Available Hardware Company in 1992. With the wider complete bundle of products needed by its customers, the company changed its name to McKillican American Inc. in the USA and McKillican Canadian Inc. in Canada to reflect "The Complete Source" product offering.

Over the next 3 decades McKillican expanded steadily from Texas to Hawaii and today has 24 distribution branches in the United States and Canada.
