SOMERSET, NJ – Attendees of the 2014 Cabinets & Closets Expo will have an opportunity to tour Eastern Millwork Inc. (EMI), one of the northeast’s most high-end, high-tech architectural woodworking plants.

The tour, co-sponsored by Stiles Machinery Inc. and the Association of Closet and Storage Professionals (ACSP), is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, April 10, immediately following the close of the first day of the two-day expo at the Garden State Exhibit Center.

Based in Jersey City, NJ, EMI incorporates software automation, technology and lean manufacturing to create interior and exterior woodwork for a wide variety of clients ranging from corporations and educational institutions through retailers and hoteliers.

The company's project list includes Madison Square Garden, the New York Times, General Electric, Rockefeller University, Goldman Sachs. Price Waterhouse and more. EMI even fabricated a huge plywood sign for Super Bowl XLVIII.

EMI's constant drive to improve its ability to satisfy customers runs the gamut from information management through production and installation.

EMI has been well ahead of the curve in developing custom in-house 3D building information modeling (BIM) software that allows it to engineer large-capacity, custom projects as well as track and distribute information to all the necessary design, architectural and contractor entities through the entire construction and installation process.

The cutting-edge software is augmented by flexible, high-production machinery at the company’s 40,000-square-foot European-influenced facility that includes multiple CNC machines, as well as the Bargstedt automated  storage and retrieval system. Using CNC machines and automated workflows, EMI is able to produce thousands of unique pieces in less time than using traditional methods.

Registration for the tour is $40 if made by March 16 and $50 after. It includes round-trip bus transportation from and to the Garden State Exhibit Center and refreshments. Registration is subject to availability of seats on the bus on a first-come, first-served basis.
