-- Hotel furniture giant Kimball Hospitality promoted Robert “Bob” Bomholt to VP and GM of Kimball Hospitality.

In his new position, Bomholt will assume many of the duties currently held by the company president Stan Sapp. The change in duties at the unit of Kimball International "will allow Sapp to devote more energy and attention to the pursuit of new growth opportunities, including investigation of potential new market ventures," the company said in a statement.

Bomholt transitions to this role from his current role as VP sales and marketing. Kimball Hospitality is a global supplier of proprietary and custom designed furnishings for the hotel, casino, and resort industries.

The shift, which follows Kimball Hospitality’s expansion into upholstered seating and its opening of a production facility in Martinsville, VA, "strategically positions Kimball International and its brand units for the economic turnaround and improved business, with a focus on future growth of the company,” says Jim Thyen, president and CEO of Kimball International.

Bomholt, began at Kimball in 2004 as director of operations for Kimball Hospitality; then became senior director of sales and marketing for Kimball Hospitality in August 2007. In April last year, Bomholt was appointed VP sales and marketing.
