Furniture manufacturer Leggett & Platt donated $100,000 to the Joplin, MO-based Lafayette House, a home for women, children and families who are victims of domestic violence or who struggle with addiction.

The donation is part of the company's $1 million pledge to help the town of Joplin after a devastating F5 tornado hit it last year.

"We are very grateful to Leggett & Platt for their strong community support and for recognizing the needs of area families," said Alison Malinowski Sunday, Lafayette House Executive Director. "This contribution will help hundreds of women and children."

Leggett & Platt has also set up a benevolence fund to aid its employees affected by the Missouri tornados.
