Leggett & Platt Aid Joplin Community After Tornado Disaster

Furniture Maker Leggett & Platt Aids Tornado VictimsFurniture manufacturer Leggett & Platt donated $100,000 to the Joplin, MO-based Lafayette House, a home for women, children and families who are victims of domestic violence or who struggle with addiction.

The donation is part of the company's $1 million pledge to help the town of Joplin after a devastating F5 tornado hit it last year.

"We are very grateful to Leggett & Platt for their strong community support and for recognizing the needs of area families," said Alison Malinowski Sunday, Lafayette House Executive Director. "This contribution will help hundreds of women and children."

Leggett & Platt has also set up a benevolence fund to aid its employees affected by the Missouri tornados. Checks can be sent to the "Leggett & Platt Benevolence Fund," Community Foundation of the Ozarks, P.O. Box 8960, Springfield, MO, 65801. Online donations can be made at http://www.cfozarks.org/donate with specific designation for the "Leggett & Platt Benevolence Fund" in the Fund/Program box. Employees can also donate through a one-time payroll deduction.
