Spice Up Closet Designs with Barn Doors

Sliding barn doors are making inroads in residential interior design. Take a look at a few of the popular online design sites from Houzz to Pinterest and you will see this new trend is popping up all over as home owners look for innovative and creative ways to personalize their living spaces.

Often, these doors serve not only as functional but accent pieces as well. Whether a homeowner has a studio or loft apartment or an open space floorplan, sliding barn doors can provide a simple, yet chic, solution to dividing rooms.

A number of companies are offering barn doors and barn door hardware kits from Hafele, Real Sliding Doors, NW Artisan Hardware, CS Hardware, Rustica Hardware and Richard-Wilcox, with a variety of styles available from rustic to minimalistic.

A few of the companies are out with new barn door hardware lines. Real Carriage Door Co., which designs and manufactures Real Sliding Door Hardware, introduced a residential salvage barn door line made from the wood of the historic and dismantled Rainer Brewing Co. Cold Storage plant in Seattle, WA.

Kaysville, UT-based NW Artisan Hardware, which opened for business in 2012, sells barn door hardware kits and received the Utah Student Emerging Companies award earlier this year from the Utah Student 25, which recognizes businesses started and run by full-time students.
