Keynote —Avoiding Pricing Pitfalls with FDMC Editorial Director Will Sampson

Sampson will address the pricing quandary with his Day 1 keynote on October 12 titled, "Avoiding Pricing Pitfalls." The veteran woodworking journalist, podcaster and lean advocate will share the highlights and his personal insights based on his decades of interactions with hundreds of woodworking companies as well as his analysis of FDMC's annual Pricing Survey. He’ll examine what various shops charge for the same work, the fundamentals of pricing custom work, and common pitfalls to avoid in the estimating process.

CEU session —High-Performance Waterproof Wall Panel Systems for Interiors with Robert Schaefer

Learning objectives include: Compare a waterproof wall panel system installation to a traditional tile installation; Explore the features and performance benefits of waterproof wall panel systems; Discuss the dangers of moisture intrusion and its impact on indoor air quality and the deterioration of building materials; Recall design guidelines for moisture control and discuss why waterproof wall panels can mitigate moisture damage in unavoidably wet areas in commercial and residential building.

Learning objectives include: Define high-pressure compact laminate, its composition, and how its unique attributes contribute to the long-lasting durability and maintenance of each space; Describe the manufacturing process for compact laminate and the value it provides to the final product; Explain the performance characteristics such as durability, cleanability, ease of maintenance and water resistance; List the appropriate uses of compact laminate in applications such as lockers, cabinets, wall panels, casework, shelving, and partitions; Understand the importance of how this material will extend the lifecycle of the project.

WPE Session 3 — Business Succession with Gayle and Chuck Ross

Gayle and Chuck Ross, principals of Ross Business Solutions help clients navigate the three key phases of business ownership: launch, grow, and exit. The duo will focus their WPEL presentation exit strategies to maximize maximum return on a business, managing tax consequences, and reducing stress throughout the organization.

WPE Session 4 —Tales from the Closet with Eric Marshall

Co-owner of the Closet Training Institute and immediate past president of the Association of Closet and Storage Professionals, will share some of the key lessons he has learned during his more than 40 years of experience working in the closet and storage industry. Among the topics Marshall will cover include how to design with the customer’s needs in mind, how to close the deal the first time; and how to accomplish seamless installs.
