Kvänum launches '70s-inspired kitchen design

San Francisco, CA -- High-end San Francisco kitchen design company Kvänum, presented it’s newest retro kitchen design during this year’s Stockholm’s Design Week. Inspired by '70s decor, the unit features details typical of the time including wall cabinets suspended from the ceiling, vintage glass knobs, and side panels that fold out into a working table.

“Everything goes in cycles,” says Natalia Nordstorm, owner of Kvänum, of the new design, “Maybe people who remodeled their kitchen in the '70s were not very interested in the designs of their era, but younger generations have a nostalgic relationship with those styles.”

Natalia Nordström reports that trends in kitchen design are moving away from the wide open models painted in hard clinical whites. Instead designers are experimenting with using tighter spaces and deeper colors like browns and greens- even leaving large natural wood surfaces. Nordström finds that many details from the '70s fit in nicely with the new trend in kitchen design and can be borrowed to add to contemporary design dialogue while still fitting nicely into any modern home.

Of course '70s inspired work is not all that Kvänum does, they specialize in traditional and modern Swedish cabinetry that epitmozes quality and functionality on all levels. San Franciscans interested in a kitchen remodel should consider following the lead of the Swedish Royal Family and get Kvänum’s visionary designers on the job.
