The popular Frank Howarth adds a vertical CNC table and new spoil board to his CNC setup.
"A year ago, I added four feet of length to my CNC router table in anticipation of adding an adjustable vertical table to the CNC set up," Howarth says. "Before I started the adjustable table project, I replaced the spoil board that I had been using for 2 years.
I went through several design options for a system to adjust the table and ended up building a ratcheting system that allows me to move the table into position and have it stay in that position. This table will allow me to clamp and hold work at various angles. I will be able to carve the sides of wood turned objects as well as the ends of longer objects."

In honor of Star Wars Day (May 4 - May the Fourth be with you), Howarth constructed a wooden Death Star – and filmed the process in timelapse.
Howarth built the bamboo death star using a CNC, a lathe, and conventional equipment - filming the entire process in timelapse.
He also turned a wooden eyeball from maple, cherry, birch, walnut, and ebony; and turned a segmented walnut & redheart bowl. And he built a motor mount for his surface sander. Check out his projects.
