Austin Brent Jackson, director of sales and distribution at SurfPrep Sanding died unexpectedly on Jan. 20 in Los Angeles, California. He was 36 years old.
Well-known in the woodworking community, Jackson was recognized in 2021 by Woodworking Network as a Wood Industry 40 Under 40. He also was touted for improving the lives of those he worked with through his positive attitude. "To know Austin was to love him," said Hannah Khalaf, marketing manager at SurfPrep. "He was a kind and loving spirit with a larger-than-life personality and will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched."
Jackson is survived by his wife, Shannon, his parents, Jody and Debbie Jackson, and his siblings, Blake and Crystal.
The cause of death is still being determined. Jackson had recently been diagnosed with Type II diabetes and was undergoing treatment for complications.
