HIGH POINT, N.C. — The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation Inc. will move the Induction Celebration, traditionally held during the October High Point Market, to Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the Sheraton Greensboro Four Seasons.

Inductees into this year's Hall of Fame are: Irv Blumkin, CEO, Nebraska Furniture Mart; Robert G. Culp III, co-founder, former chairman and CEO, Culp, Inc.; Robert J. Maricich, chairman and CEO, International Market Centers; Allan H. Palecek, chairman and founder, Palecek; and Todd Wanek, CEO and president, Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. They join 120 members previously honored.

The foundation said health and safety considerations played a role in the postponement.

“We are an industry based on relationships and on people who like to gather together to honor our leaders,” said Martin Ploy, president of the foundation board of directors. “Our goal to create an evening worthy of the industry’s most prestigious honor includes being surrounded, not just by immediate family but by business associates and peers.  It’s an annual reunion that must go on, though for the Class of 2020, following a brief delay.

“Our board and staff considered many obvious, and some not so obvious, scenarios based on health and safety. Ultimately, we concluded that putting the event on pause is the best solution: Same event.  Same place. New one-time date,” he said.  “As the industry’s largest networking event, it still will be a not-to-miss industry-wide celebration focused on what makes this industry great, with a world-class speaker and unexpected new features to delight and surprise our fashion industry.”

The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation Inc. is an industry-wide organization founded to preserve its history, to celebrate exceptional individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the U.S. home furnishings industry, and to inspire a new class of innovation and leadership. A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the organization currently is based in High Point, North Carolina; the grand opening of a new permanent home is targeted for April 2021.
