Behold Washington furniture returns to production, says demand is high

PONTOTOC, Miss. - Motion and stationary furniture maker Behold Washington is back doing what it does best after a month of being closed. And demand is high.

Behold was shut down for more than a month because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Several of its 425 employees had showed symptoms similar to the virus back in March. Soon after, all employees were furloughed.

Both of the company's two manufacturing plants (a 400,000-square-foot facility in Pontotoc, Mississippi and a smaller one in Smithville) are back online. Many workers have returned, with the rest set to return next week.

Workers are required to wear face masks both on the production lines and in offices.

Behold told WCBI News that it was doing very well before the virus took hold. That momentum is helping it come out of the pandemic strong. The company says it is seeing big demand from retailers.

Behold appears to have developed a thick skin for adversity, coming back strong after arson completely decimated its Pontotoc plant last September.

The company is a merger between Behold Home and Washington Furniture. It specializes in residential motion and stationary furniture.
