Free WPE Florida keynote will highlight ‘15 things’ for business success

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – What makes a custom closet or cabinet company successful? That’s the $64,000 question business consultant Tom Grandy will answer during a free keynote presentation slated for 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 9 at Wood Pro Expo Florida, co-located with the Closets Conference & Expo. 

Grandy, the principal Tom Grandy & Associates, is an industrial engineer by training will present, “Fifteen Things All Successful Companies Have in Common.” Since its launch in 1987, Grandy’s company has trained more than 20,000 professional contractors including owners, managers and installers.

Grandy said his presentation is “designed for all contractors of any size, but most of what is talked about would apply to most any business. They will see how they stand nationally and therefore will be able to pinpoint potential areas that need to worked on for the future, It’s a fun program full of great ideas that will help the attendee put in place a plan for long-term profitable growth.”

Grandy said some of the 15 keys he will address include:

Proper pricing. “If your products and services are not priced right, nothing else really matters,” he said.

Three points of growth that can put a business out of business. “Growth is generally a good thing but there are three critical stages of growth that each business owner needs to be fully aware if they want to stay in business.”

Creating a business plan “prepare for growth and all of the changes that will take place.”

Networking with other contractors and trades. “Most business owners used to work for someone else so few of them have a solid business background. Learning from peers is very important.”

Since its launch in 1987, Grandy & Associates Grandy’s focus is helping clients increase cash flows and profits while also reducing stress levels and increasing free time.

Grandy’s presentation will precede the opening of the two-day exhibition at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. Representatives of key equipment and supply companies will be on hand to demonstrate their wares and answer questions. Show products will run the gamut from CNC routers, edgebanders and cutting tools through slides and hinges, decorative panels and CAD/CAM software.
