Is This Reclaimed Heart Pine Circle Back Chair a Winner? Reclaimed heart pine was used by Gregg Lipton Furniture, located in Cumberland, ME, to fabricate this circle back chair. An entry in the Best in Wood competition, this project features a design based on an equilateral triangle around which everything revolves, the company says.

The stretcher system, integral to the structure of the chair, intersects with the back slats and the front legs. The slight dish carving in the seat creates a saddle for the sitter.

Gregg Lipton Furniture is a small studio that creates custom contemporary furnishings in exotic hardwood, leather and steel. The studio also designs and handcrafts a product line of tables, casework, chairs as well as custom or limited production furniture on commission.

Best in Wood competition is now open!
