Mike Emmel of Interior Woodworks, Bismarck ND, is a finalist in the 2015 Custom Woodworking Design Portfolio Awards with his project “Amber’s Dream Entertainment Unit” entered in the Commercial/Institutional category.

Project Description: Peter Pan was the inspiration for this unique piece of furniture. Sanford Health in Bismarck remodeled their Children’s wing in honor of a young girl named Amber who lost her battle with Leukemia. Amber loved Peter Pan. Interior Woodworks was asked to design and build an entertainment unit for the waiting room that fit in with the theme. This piece represent the house where Wendy lived.

Project Construction Details: Project constructed using the skills of our experienced artisans. No CNC equipment was used and one of a kind jigs were fabricated to enable us to produce a very unique piece. Timeless, proven joinery and techniques were used.

Materials Used: Clear maple and cherry hardwood. Lateral opening Sugatsune hinges were used to open the irregular shaped doors
