Kelly Clark of Closets By Design PA, Exton, PA, is a finalist in the 2015 Top Shelf Design Awards competition with her project “White Chocolate Dressing Room” entered in the Closet: Laminate more than 18 linear feet category.

Project Description: This closet was to have it all… literally. Wanting no storage furnishings in their bedroom, the clients requested this closet to house all their clothing, accessories, and shoes. And everything has its place. The custom tie drawer houses over 70 ties and sits aside a custom belt drawer. Further accommodating their items are: drawer dividers, slanted shoe shelves behind glass, jewelry inserts, tilt-out hampers, and oil-rubbed bronze round rods on panels with custom drill locations. Since this room has tall, cathedral ceilings, tall units with crown molding naturally emerged. The white chocolate textured finish is very on-trend. And every luxury walk-in closet must have a chandelier and granite counter top!

Project Construction Details: The expansive ceiling used to be a part of the attic space and this room once consisted of 4 small, reach in closets. Once the ceiling was lifted and walls were removed, this room’s glory emerged. A new wood floor was stained on site and the chandelier was lifted, making way for our custom cabinetry.

Materials Used: Tan brown granite counter top, textured “white chocolate” cabinetry with raised panel fronts, deep panels with custom drilling to enclose hanging, 100% extension ball-bearing guides on all drawers, chrome hamper baskets with canvas liners, velvet jewelry trays, traditional moldings, oil rubbed bronze hardware and rods, slanted shoe shelves, and glass inserts for doors. Cabinetry is constructed of CARB compliant, industrial grade particle board, laminated with soft-touch melamine. Door and drawer fronts are thermofoil on MDF.

Equipment and/or Software Used: Drawings were crafted by hand.
