CHESTER, S.C. - Utilizing Dieffenbacher's expertise in particleboard, Roseburg Forest Products will produce approximately three million cubed feet of LVL boards per year on one line.
Roseburg, a leading producer of particleboard, MDF, and thermally-fused laminates, contracted Dieffenbacher to supply the microwave preheating system and the world's largest continuous press and stacking system at the company's new plant in Chester, South Carolina.
With a daily output of over 28,000 cubed feet, the more-than-200-foot-long continuous press will be the world's largest continuous LVL press as measured by production capacity. The upstream 600 kW microwave will be the most powerful preheating system of its type in LVL production.
"We obviously knew of Dieffenbacher's previous LVL projects. These excellent references are among the reasons that we ultimately chose Dieffenbacher as our supplier," said Roseburg President and CEO Grady Mulbery. "The short distance between Chester and Dieffenbacher's service center in Alpharetta, Georgia, is another plus for us."
Roseburg has earmarked a total investment of $200 million for its new LVL production line. Construction starts in the first quarter of 2018. Production of the first board is planned for 2019.
Roseburg says its Chester facility is the most technologically advanced facility of its kind in the world. The company makes structural beams for residential and commercial construction at the facility.
