CORRIGAN, TX - Martco LLC announced plans recently to build an oriented strand board (OSB) facility in Corrigan, Texas. When completed, the OSB plant is expected to employ 165 people.

Construction is expected to begin in summer 2015, with a startup date expected to be by fall 2017. Martco said the new facility, Corrigan OSB LLC, will complement its existing panel plants in Oakdale, Louisiana (OSB) and Chopin, Louisiana (plywood).

OSB is commonly used in housing construction as well as other applications. The company said the Corrigan panel products will be marketed under existing RoyOMartin brands: Eclipse Radiant Barrier Roof Sheathing, Eclipse Reflective Housewrap, TuffStrand, WindBrace and StructWall.

“Ever since my grandfather started out in the wood-product industry more than 90 years ago, our family has taken pride in utilizing raw materials to the fullest extent possible," Martin Companies LLC Chairman and CEO Jonathan E. Martin said in making the announcement last month. "This business model has led to Martco’s growth as a leading supplier in the wood-products industry. The timing is right for us to position ourselves to more effectively meet the increasing demand for building products into the foreseeable future.”

Included in the state-of-the-art facility will be a Dieffenbacher forming and press line. Information from Dieffenbacher said the new line will feature: a four head forming station, a belt/Flexoplan combination forming line and a 12 foot x 26 foot / 14 daylight multi-opening hot press.

Martco is a division of the RoyOMartin Lumber Co.

“Martco will extend its philosophy of being ‘employer of choice’ and ‘vendor of choice’ to this region, while maintaining the stability of a well-established, family-owned, professionally managed company committed to its stakeholders,” added Roy O. Martin III, president.
