ATLANTA – Timber investment firm Timbervest LLC has added 13,220 acres of timberland to its portfolio. The forestry is located in Georgia, Tennessee and Vermont.

The Effingham, GA acquisition consists of approximately 2,550 acres, primarily industrial grade pine. The group said a portion of the wood fiber harvested from the property will possibly be exported to Europe as wood pellets. With this addition, the Timbervest Partners III LP (TVP III) investment fund now owns approximately 30,000 acres in Georgia.

In northwest Tennessee, the newly acquired 9,400-acre timberland consists of mixed hardwoods and loblolly pine plantations. With the acquisition, the investment fund owns more than 13,500 acres on timberland in the state.

The Green Acres, VT, property consists of approximately 1,270 acres of mixed hardwood. In addition to timber harvesting, there is also maple syrup production, the group said. The purchase brings TVP III’s Vermont holdings to approximately 14,220 acres.

“The acquisitions of these diverse properties provide significant value for our clients and serve as strong additions to our existing portfolio,” said Bill Boden, managing partner of Timbervest. The Timbervest Partners III LP (TVP III) investment fund is a $400 million commingled fund consisting of 250,000 acres of timberland located throughout the country.

Founded in 1995, Atlanta-based Timbervest currently manages more than 600,000 acres of timberland, timber-related assets and investments, with a market value in excess of $1.2 billion.
