BROOKLYN, NY –  Hodjera Architectural Products says Madera Trade is the exclusive representative for Kebony wood products, a sustainable alternate to tropical hardwoods, to the architectural community throughout the New York City area. Madera Trade is a Brooklyn-based firm that supplies high quality sustainable wood products for green building and design.

“We have done extensive work to source sustainable alternatives to endangered woods in Latin America and Asia,” Madera co-founder Daniel Clason-Höök said. “Kebony provides the best option we’ve seen and will be very successful in New York, a market that is particularly fond of tropical hardwoods.”

Kebony wood products are “Kebonized” – treated and hardened with furfuryl alcohol, a waste by-product of crop production – a process said to give sustainably harvested softwoods like pine the look, feel and physical properties of tropical hardwoods. Kebony has been specified for  commercial, municipal and high-end residential architectural projects throughout Europe over the past decade.

“Madera Trade’s mission is to offer a sustainable alternative to vulnerable tropical hardwoods," says Matthew Hodjera, president. "They know the New York market intimately and can help push this remarkable product into the nation’s largest design center.” Hodjera Architectural Products is a leading provider of modern, innovative European commercial interior/exterior finishes for the architecture and design industry.
