Star Furniture Continues to Invest in Austin Community with Grand Opening of New Showroom

Austin, TX -- Star Furniture opened a new, freestanding 75,000 square foot state of the art showroom in North Austin on September 16, 2010. The new store is located at 14051 I-35 North between Parmer Lane and Howard Lane. Retailer committed to Austin with new freestanding store and connection to community through local causes like I Live Here, I Give Here.

“We have gone to extraordinary lengths to understand what customers in Austin are looking for, not only in a store, but in the experience. We have created a shopping environment that’s different from any store in Austin,” explained Bill Kimbrell, CEO of Star Furniture. “The furniture in our store reflects the lifestyle and taste-level of this community with a focus on affordability. We have already received rave reviews from customers who have taken a sneak peek.”

As is customary for Star, its executives preceded the creation of what they describe as “the furniture store of the future” with a tour of the nation’s other leading furniture stores and successful retailers. The store showcases the most modern display techniques and incorporates an abundance of natural light.

Like existing Star stores, the newest showroom will be arranged in specific lifestyle areas for customer inspiration and shopping ease. The carefully designed store allows shoppers to find room displays, complete with accessories, in an array of lifestyle settings. It includes Star’s signature designer trends and collections, and an expanded design center where customers can receive complimentary interior design services.

The grand opening of the new store also signals Star’s commitment to its growing bedding business. Star has long been a leader in the sales of Serta, Simmons and Tempur-Pedic mattresses, and will continue to allow customers the flexibility to choose from among the largest assortment of premium mattresses in the state.

The company is giving back to Austin by partnering with I Live Here, I Give Here, a local non-profit that promotes philanthropy in the Austin area. Moreover, the leadership of Star has encouraged its personnel to get even more involved in meaningful causes in and around the community. As an organization, Star is involved with a number of important community efforts, including The United Way.

The new showroom is the company’s flagship location in Austin and one of 10 locations in Texas; 7 of which are in the Houston area with the remainder in San Antonio and Bryan. The company made its first deliveries as a family-owned business in 1912. In 1997, Star Furniture joined the prestigious Berkshire Hathaway group. Its efforts have been recognized by the International Home Furnishings Association, which has honored the company as one of the country’s outstanding multi-store retailers.
