San Francisco – Bamboo interior products pioneer Smith & Fong Co. today announced it has appointed Duluth, Minnesota-based architectural surfaces distributor Intectural to handle Plyboo plywood distribution for the Midwestern United States.
“Intectural’s contacts and relationships in the architectural and design community are peerless,” Smith & Fong vice president Angus Stocks said. “And the company’s expertise in the area of high-end surfaces make it a great partner for Smith & Fong.”
Intectural will handle distribution of Smith & Fong’s Plyboo bamboo and Durapalm palm plywood lines in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota.
Founded in 1989 and headquartered in San Francisco, Smith & Fong Co. was the first U.S. company to manufacture bamboo flooring in China for sale in North America, offering its initial product under the brand name Plyboo in 1993. In 1996 the firm began producing bamboo plywood, followed by coconut palm flooring and plywood products in 2000. The company’s first FSC-certified hardwood flooring line debuted in 2008.
