Russia presents ZOW 2010 furniture expo
The Russian bear is back: the country is through the worst of the economic crisis and is showing signs of growth. Experts are forecasting GDP growth of 2 to 3 % in 2010, with some even talking of 5 %. It’s against this backdrop that the ZOW supplier fair for the furniture industry and interior design is taking place at the Expocentr Moscow from 22 to 26 November 2010, running at the same time as Mebel. Around 150 furniture supply companies from Russia and abroad will be there, showcasing the very best innovations in surfaces, fittings, elements, semi-finished products, materials and interior design products. Around 15 000 visitors are expected to attend.

Each November, Mebel attracts decision-makers and representatives from all over the country to the Russian capital. No-one in the furniture industry can afford to miss the largest Russian furniture trade fair. With its innovative suppliers, ZOW is the ideal counterpart to this furniture show and delivers real added value for the Russian furniture sector. The fair, which has been taking place at the Expocentr for four years, is synonymous with efficient organisation, intense communication and good customer contacts. The unique ZOW workshop concept, which is famous the world over, goes down particularly well on the Russian market. With more than 70 % of visitors coming from senior management circles in the Russian furniture industry, ZOW is the place for lucrative business deals.

As always, the focal point of ZOW is new products, which again this year are characterised by a multitude of creative ideas developed by the international supplier industry and deliver impressive technical know-how. Lively surface structures and fine shades of grey are the trendsetters among household furniture designs. They give decors visual depth, which becomes even more intense with changing matt shimmer effects. Integrated attenuation is the key word for fittings. Cupboard doors and drawers should open as quietly as possible, and the required technology should be virtually invisible. The fittings' design line is still puristic and therefore adapts to the grey and white shades of the furniture surfaces. Light as a design element is more in demand than ever before. Different sources of illumination can be used to create an interesting mix of light. The trend amongst lighting is for small products with high lighting levels, appealing light colours, low heat radiation and a long service life.

The organisers are again inviting visitors to attend this year’s MIFIC Moscow International Furniture Industry Congress, which runs in parallel to ZOW and Mebel at the Expocentr. The congress is offering an extensive range of events including workshops, discussion sessions, exhibitions and matchmaking for the international furniture business. Prominent speakers from all over the world and a high-calibre audience, including prominent figures from politics and industry, make the MIFIC an important event for ZOW and Mebel exhibitors and visitors alike. The key thing is to “see and be seen”. Important contacts are often made which result in actual business deals.
