WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Peter Polhemus, president and CEO of Polhemus Savery DaSilva Architects Builders in Chatham, Mass, has been named the Custom Home Builder of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders.

"We are honored to be the first company in New England and also the first truly integrated architectural and building firm to receive this prestigious award," Polhemus said. "We thank our extraordinary clients for giving us the opportunity to do great work. I am very proud of our team and its profound commitment to excellence in design, construction and client satisfaction."

The award, presented annually at the International Builders' Show and sponsored this year by the Propane Education and Research Council, recognizes custom home builders who demonstrate skill and craftsmanship as well as outstanding leadership and business practices in his or her local market area as well as in the industry.

"The quality, variety and uniqueness of the projects that Polhemus Savery DaSilva Architects Builders designs and builds and the service it provides its clients makes Peter's company stand out," said Mary Schroeder, president of Miller Homes in Brookfield, Wisc., and 2010 chair of the Custom Home Builders Committee. "In addition, Peter has donated his time to the local home builders association and has contributed work in other charitable efforts to make things better in his community."
