National Office Furniture donates to West Coast Cancer Center

JASPER, IN -- As flowers and foliage vibrantly bloom this spring, National Office Furniture delivered a blossom of inspiration to a regional cancer center in Corvallis, Oregon. National Office Furniture, a brand unit of Kimball International, Inc. (NASDAQ: KBALB), spent a day with Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center to learn about the many great things the hospital does throughout the region and to drop off a big check. Samaritan Hematology & Oncology Consultants, an outpatient clinic of the hospital, was awarded National's $25,000 Gift of Inspiration for Healthcare.

The cancer center's outreach services run solely on donations in providing care and counseling to cancer patients around the Corvallis area with some traveling hours for treatment. The rural service radius and challenging economy make it difficult for patients during treatments to continue work, provide for their families and keep some sense of normalcy in a very physically and mentally demanding situation. National Office Furniture's $25,000 Gift of Inspiration provides a much needed boost for the outreach program to support these families, especially those with extended, daily treatment schedules. The funds will help keep spirits high with a variety of services such as onsite lodging in the hospitality house for patients and families and assistance in the form of gas cards, groceries and utility bill payments.

"This is more than a monetary donation. The gift will provide inspiration, access to treatment and comfort to oncology patients and families during very difficult times. Words cannot express the difference this will make in many people's lives," says Melanie Brown, regional operations manager at Samaritan Hematology & Oncology Consultants.

"Thank you National for such a wonderful gift. The oncology outreach requires outside support to offer the extra services that can bring some peace of mind to our patients and families as they endure physical and emotional exhaustion. Your generosity is truly appreciated. In today's economy, funding and even business survival is being challenged every day. I commend National on their commitment to social stewardship. The faith and hope the Gift of Inspiration will provide to our community is priceless. Thank you National." says Jeff Larson, executive director of the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation.

"Our goal is to be a good neighbor. The Gift of Inspiration is one way for us to give back to organizations that do so much for their communities through providing care, education and assurance. We're proud to support such a worthy program as Samaritan's Hematology & Oncology Consultants. Their commitment to restoring normalcy and providing on-going support to patients and their families in the toughest of times is honorable, and we're humbled to be a part of it," says Kevin McCoy, Vice President, General Manager, National Office Furniture.

"It was the best phone call I have ever made," says Kourtney Smith, VP of Marketing, National Office Furniture, "Ms. Brown's reaction began with disbelief and turned quickly into shouts of joy and dancing. It's very rewarding as a company to be able to provide a meaningful gift to such a deserving organization and the people they serve."

Just as National presented the $25,000 donation to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, they also launched their third annual Gift of Inspiration for Education. This marks the fifth Gift of Inspiration overall in the program. Donations to date from the first four Gift of Inspirations total $85,000 to education and healthcare organizations.

About the Gift of Inspiration Program

Drawing upon knowledge from serving key customer markets of education and healthcare, National Office Furniture started its Gift of Inspiration program in 2009 to enable opportunities for educators and healthcare providers to enrich lives and communities. National wanted to do its part in supporting educators, students, caregivers, and care recipients with a chance to provide inspirational, meaningful programs, especially as funding for these important initiatives has been challenged by the economy. National's program allows the company to give back to these markets with financial gifts that may be used for technology needs, scholarships, training and development programs, or facility enhancements.

Previous Gift of Inspiration winners include:
* 2010 $25,000 Gift of Inspiration for Education Environments: Hill College of Hillsboro, Texas. Hill College started its "Building Pathways of Success" scholarship program for first generation college students.
* 2010 $25,000 Gift of Inspiration for Healthcare Environments: University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, Madison, Wisconsin. UWHC used the donation to develop outdoor healing initiatives, including a healing garden and walking paths.
* 2009 $10,000 Gift of Inspiration for Education Environments: Southwest Middle School of Savannah, Georgia. SMS utilized the funds to start a "Second Chance" mentoring and after school program for at-risk students.
