There were four winning designs submitted to the 25th annual âDoug Mockett & Company Design Contestâ, it was announced today by owner Doug Mockett.
âWe were overwhelmed with entries this last yearâ, said Mockett, âFrom 14 different countries all over the globe, designers excited to send something in for the quarter century anniversary. But perhaps a little surprisingly, all four First Place awards went to submissions from the USAâ.
The First Place awards went to:
* Rick Poliquin of Henderson, NV, for a unique purse hook design, to hang a purse or computer bag under a desk or restaurant counter;
* Eric Coursey of Skandia, MI, for âNodeâ, a wire manager that gathers multiple wires at a central point and gently curves them around the edge of a desk;
* Saruul Herz of New York, NY, for âPolished Balanceâ, a new approach to table leg design with the legs bending inwards instead of standing straight up;
* Mark Zack of Hillsborough, NC, for a series of stylish machined metal wire managers that can easily be placed or moved on a desk or work surface as needed.
Each will receive $1000 First Prize, an engraved trophy, and a royalty based on sales.
Entries are now open for the 2011 Competition. Deadline is the Tuesday after Labor Day weekend, September 6, 2011.
