Laguna Tools presents 37" Pro Wide-Belt Sander
Irvine, CA - Fantastic wood finishes begin with great sanding.  As usual, Laguna Tools has packed the features of much larger machines into their compact 37" Pro Wide-Belt Sander.  Laguna Tools founder Torben Helshoj is both an experienced production woodworker and an engineer and he designs his tools to meet his own quality standards.

“I know exactly what state a part needs to be in to take a finish well, so I demand our wide-belt machines produce those results.  We work at our machine designs until they measure up.  What we finally put on the market is what I use in my own projects, and that's why I stand behind my tools," Torben explains.

The 37" Pro Wide-Belt Sander balances precision, quality, and production speed via a combination of features.  “I know from experience that high quality sanding comes from fine adjustability of the machine," Torben added.  The sander does away with a limited number of fixed speeds and allows a variable feed speed, thanks to a dedicated motor, with wide latitude of 12 to 60 feet per minute.  In addition, a conveniently located ampere meter allows operators to determine the load of the sanding operation.  Load monitoring allows operators to adjust the platen height and feed speed for consistent results as well as extend belt life.  These features in combination allow much more control over the sanding of a broad variety of materials.

In addition to the fine adjustment controls, the 37" Pro Wide-Belt Sander oscillates laterally as it works.  This eliminates the classic streaks left from worn belts that often must be hand sanded out, saving production time and improving results.  This also allows belts to be used much longer and reduces production costs.  Belts slide over a low-friction graphite platen as opposed to the typical steel type.  Steel platens become worn over time, developing a hump that produces uneven results and breaks belts before their time.  The micro-adjustable graphite platen stays true and maximizes belt life. The result is great cost savings and unbelievably consistent finishes.

The table is precisely positioned and easily monitored by a conveniently located digital readout.  There is no need to peer at an old style indicator or remember the number of hand wheel turns.  A glance at the readout is all it takes to be assured that parts are being produced at the desired thickness.  Additionally, the readout ensures excellent repeatability, removing guesswork and allowing a wider range of employees to sand parts to exact specification. The 37" Pro Wide-Belt Sander is designed for shops needing one tool to handle a wide range of jobs.  In addition to the controls and adjustability, the sander handles materials all the way from 1/4" to 5" in thickness.

Dust management is a key factor in excellent results and the 37" Pro Wide-Belt Sander excels in this important task.  Three separate super efficient 4" dust collection ports ensure that dust is thoroughly removed from the work area, allowing belts to cut unhindered and improving finish quality.

Although the machine features a powerful 20 HP belt motor for maximum production rates, overall job speed is also attained by fast belt changes.  There is no need to wait for the belt to slowly wind to a halt because belts are stopped immediately by a disc brake.  The belt change itself is designed to be both quick and easy.

Laguna Tools was founded by a woodworker who understands that good tools are a key element of a great shop.  Torben Helshoj continues to work at combining the best cutting-edge technology into affordable tools for fine production shops.  He knows that, in today’s world, maximizing production without sacrificing quality is the name of the game.  The 37" Pro Wide-Belt Sander is a versatile powerhouse designed for premium results in a busy shop, incorporating the features of bigger machines into an affordable unit.
