Grand Rapids, MI – Knape & Vogt today announced that it has acquired John Sterling Corporation located in Richmond, Illinois.
John Sterling is a leading manufacturer and marketer of functional and decorative home storage and organization products. Key product lines include closet, shelving, and garage organization hardware systems, as well as a broad line of decorative shelving solutions John Sterling also provides a comprehensive line of sliding door hardware for residential and commercial applications.
“The acquisition of John Sterling will provide Knape & Vogt with an expanded presence in our retail and distribution channels within our core product categories” commented Peter Martin, President and CEO of Knape & Vogt. “Our two companies have long standing customer relationships with key retailers in the US and Canada. The combination of our complementary sales organizations and product offerings will provide a strong platform for growth in our retail storage and organization business. John Sterling’s door hardware business represents a new functional hardware category for KV and access to new commercial and residential hardware distributors and end users.”
John Sterling, Owner and President of John Sterling Corporation, is the third generation family member to lead the organization. “John Sterling Corporation has been a leader in designing and manufacturing quality hardware since 1931” said Mr. Sterling. “Joining forces with Knape & Vogt builds on the strengths of both businesses to create a more powerful, customer focused company.” Mr. Sterling will remain with the company for several months to help manage transition. He has announced his plan to retire sometime during 2011.
Integration activities will begin immediately.
