Kelleher Corp Wins 2006 Mobile Impact Award
Kelleher Corporation Wins 2006 Mobile ImpactTM Award
Mobile Inventory and Order Fulfillment Solution Recognized in Sales Force Enablement Category

NEWARK, CA -- October 18, 2006 -- Socket Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCKT) today announced that Kelleher Corporation is the recipient of the 2006 Mobile Impact™ Award in the Sales Force Enablement category. The Mobile Impact Awards are presented by the Mobile Enterprise Alliance (MEA), a global advocacy group promoting the business benefits of workforce mobility to enterprise end users and decision makers.

The prestigious awards honor leading enterprises for successful and innovative deployments of mobile enterprise solutions that successfully balance technology investments with business objectives. The six winners were announced last week at the Yankee Group Mobilizing the Enterprise Summit in Boston, Massachusetts. More information about the Mobile Impact Awards program and the winning case studies may be found at www.mobileenterprise.org/awards.

Kelleher Corporation is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of lumber and moulding products in the western U.S. Its largest account is Home Depot, with more than 1,800 home improvement stores throughout North America. As its market became increasingly competitive, Kelleher realized that its inventory tracking and order fulfillment system needed to be updated. The company was previously using a paper-based system that was slow, error-prone and difficult to manage. Kelleher wanted to replace it with a cutting-edge mobile solution that would:

-- Significantly reduce the lag time between when an order was placed and
when it was fulfilled
-- Provide an up-to-the-minute database of orders for Kelleher's 5,000
SKUs
-- Increase the efficiency of data entry, verification and order picking
-- Decrease data entry errors
-- Improve billing by decreasing the pay cycle
Kelleher turned to 3G Touch Solutions, a provider of corporate information systems solutions, who developed an innovative mobile system for Kelleher featuring the Palm Treo 650 GPRS smartphone, customized software, and the Socket SD Scan Card. Instead of writing product numbers, field representatives now count inventory by scanning product bar codes into the smartphone. Data is instantly uploaded over the cellular network to Kelleher's central database for immediate processing. Most sales orders are filled within 24 hours.
After deploying the mobile system to more than 25 field representatives at Home Depot stores, Kelleher achieved the following:

-- Order fulfillment, which previously took 2-3 days, now takes only 24
hours with increased efficiency in data entry and communication.
-- Field representatives have a real-time connection to Kelleher's
database, resulting in up-to-the-minute feedback on order status and
availability, and immediate information on the entire product line.
-- Site visits, which previously took 2 hours, are now 30 minutes faster
thanks to quicker data entry from bar code scanning and rapid data
verification from web-based software. Sixty hours per week in site visit
time is saved.
-- Data entry errors, previously five per week, are eliminated with bar
code scanning, resulting in major savings in claims.
-- The cost of two order entry positions is eliminated.
-- Customer service has improved with on-the-spot updates on order
status, immediate fax confirmations, and rapid order deliveries.
"Kelleher Corporation demonstrates the 'state of the art' for enterprise mobility in 2006 with an innovative mobile deployment that balances technology investments with business objectives," stated Daniel Taylor, managing director, MEA.
"Kelleher is honored to be recognized by The Mobile Impact Award's panel of industry experts for success in empowering our mobile workforce," said Paul Herzog, vice president of marketing at Kelleher Corporation. "By wirelessly connecting to Kelleher's back-end database, the smartphone enables our field representatives to view customer data plus inventory and order information on any of Kelleher's 5,000 active SKUs, in the field and in real time. As a result of the success of the implementation with Home Depot, we have deployed the solution throughout our entire sales force so that all of Kelleher's customers can benefit from the mobile solution."
