IWF: Dieffenbacher wood panel processing systems

TORONTO - July 7- Dieffenbacher is presenting its comprehensive portfolio of production systems for wood panels at this year's International Woodworking Fair – IWF 2010 – in Atlanta, Georgia between August 25 and 28. The focus is on the topic "Return on invest". Here Dieffenbacher can offer in-house innovations that enable plant operators to achieve major cost advantages.

Capacity increases with preheating systems
Preheating systems can augment the press speed noticeably. Dieffenbacher offers two concepts for preheating: the steam preheater integrated in three reference plants achieves a capacity increase of 15 to 30 percent, while Dieffenbacher's microwave preheater outperforms even the steam preheater by raising capacity by between 30 and 50 percent. This impressive capacity increase has already been confirmed in practice in eight reference plants. In the case of retrofits, it was possible to install the preheater between the prepress and the press without cost-intensive plant conversions.

Glue saving with PROjet
A further Dieffenbacher innovation is designed to save glue. Patented PROjet MDF gluing is already used successfully by six customers. Glue savings of up to 15 percent have been achieved in practice.

Use of new raw materials with the ClassiCleaner
In wood panel lines today, the focus is on the use of new, mostly contaminated wood assortments. The ClassiCleaner permits the use of these wood assortments thanks to an effective cleaning technology and, therefore, improves cost efficiency in particleboard and MDF panel manufacture. ClassiCleaner integrates raw material screening and cleaning processes into a single system. It separates heavy contaminants, minerals, metals and light foils efficiently and then classifies the cleaned raw material into desired fractions. The system facilitates the use of recycled wood raw material cost-efficiently for panel board production, without compromising the end-product quality. Customer feedback confirms that the system removes close to 100% of the impurities from the material flow.

Clean exhaust air from the dryer with SWISS COMBI ecoDry
The energy-efficient and extremely reliable drum dryers from Dieffenbacher subsidiary Schenkman & Piel are well-established. Now a new solution is available for cleaning the exhaust air from drum dryers. Previously it was only possible to prevent odorants and wood dust emissions by investing heavily and by accepting other emissions. The SWISS COMBI ecoDry system solves these environmental problems extremely elegantly and
cost-effectively by combining exhaust air cleaning with thermal energy generation.

Service performed in the US
The Dieffenbacher Group is not just exhibiting its innovative products for wood panel manufacture in Atlanta. As well as producing parts for continuous presses and cycle presses, Dieffenbacher North America Inc. in Windsor, Canada primarily deals with service and modernizations on the North American continent. The rapid response from the Service Center with an extensive stock of spare parts and 24h online service ensures that every line achieves a high level of serviceability.
