General introduces the 90-290 M1 band saw

Featuring a one-piece heavy duty steel frame and heavy-duty dynamically balanced 18” cast-iron wheels, the new 90-290M1 offers a 12 3/8” depth of cut, making it ideal for both general purpose industrial shop use as well as for re-sawing.

Weighing just over 600 lbs the 90-290M1 is equipped with a 3 HP 220 V single phase TEFC motor – a 3-phase version (M2) is also available.

The 90-290M1 has a large 24” x 20” full cast iron table that tilts 45° to the right guided by a one-piece full cast-iron trunnion. The deluxe blade guide system consists of upper and lower Bakelite blocks and a 5 bearing assembly that provides 10 points of contact for precision cutting applications. The 90-290M1 also features a rack and pinion handwheel controlled telescoping upper guide and guard system, dual 4” dust ports and a safety foot brake that slows down the blade and disconnects power to the motor for quick bade stoppage and emergency shut-off.

The unit is also equipped with the new Excalibur deluxe band saw rip fence system with a removable 6” auxiliary fence for resawing; onboard storage mounts for both the rip fence and the supplied cast-iron miter gauge, a magnetic safety switch with lock-out to prevent accidental or unintentional start-up and an innovative feed device that keeps fingers safely away from the blade when working with short cut-offs.

The General International 90-290 M1 is currently retailing for $2999.99 – valid until Sept 1st, 2011 and can be ordered from most General/General International retail distributors.
