As an increasingly large number of companies make a consorted effort to “go green,” it’s no surprise that many furniture and manufacturing companies have struggled. But Brazilian-born Florense is breaking the mold by becoming the first South American green manufacturing company.

Florense received the IOS14001 certification in January of 2001. Since receiving this prestigious certification, Florense has strived to improve their green efforts in the manufacturing of all of their products. Every employee is committed to continuing to raise the bar in Florense’s Green Initiative. Their latest achievements have been:
* A reduction of 67% in the consumption of water.
* Complete elimination of CO2 and other industrial gasses into the atmosphere.
* Reduction of 65% in the production of liquid waste in the manufacturing process.
* Treatment of 100% of all liquid waste produces by the company.
* 100% of solid waste is recycled.
* Reuse of 100% of sawdust generated by the manufacturing process as a source of clean energy for machinery in the industry.
* Reduction of 64 % in the consumption of wood veneers by using Green Engineered Veneers and investments in manufacturing technology.
* Reduction of 25% in the consumption of painting supplies.
* Reduction of 12% in the consumption of electricity.
* Florense has planted 2,324 trees as a part of its commitment with the Carbon Free Program.
