Clarion, Peter H. Meyer separate businesses
Sixteen months after the sale of the trade exhibitions ZOW Zuliefermesse Ost-Westfalen (Suppliers Fair of the Furniture and Interior Design Industries in East-Westphalia), FMB Forum Maschinenbau (Suppliers Fair of the Machine Engineering Industry), and Focus Kitchen & Bath, to Clarion Events Ltd. (London), German ZOW-“inventor” Peter H. Meyer (61) and Clarion Survey GmbH (Bielefeld/ Germany), subsidiary of the international group, separate completely. Clarion purchases Meyer’s remaining shares in the German company and at the same time Meyer resigns as managing director of Clarion Survey GmbH.

Clarion explains: “Our purchase of the ZOW in Germany and Turkey as well as the connected license for Russia hit the mark. Exhibitors’ bookings for all three events develop brilliantly. Focus Kitchen & Bath has to re-invent itself and adjust to the ever changing market conditions where required. Forum Maschinenbau performs above objectives, a real ‘rising star’. To create this network of sales exhibitions from nowhere, and to pilot it into a safe port with Clarion after the damages suffered from the global financial crisis, is to Peter Meyer’s undisputable merit. We respect his decision, thank him for his commitment and wish him all the best for the future.”

Meyer looks ahead: “I need my independence to be creative as an entrepreneur. With Material ConneXion, the consulting business of Survey Marketing + Consulting, being managing director of the EPLF (Association of European Manufacturers of Laminate Flooring) inside the tasks of PH Meyer Wirtschaftsberatung, and my political engagement there is a lot to do. Sixteen years in the exhibition industry brought me to ups and downs. Now time has come to develop new ideas and new concepts. Our consulting business makes it very clear: Nowadays it is all about sustainability and the consequences of the demographical changes. In continuing and developing ‘my’ fairs I wish Clarion an always fortunate hand.”

It is mutual decision of the separating partners to cease ‘Survey’ being part of the names of the Clarion subsidiaries in Germany and Turkey. In the future this registered service brand will be used exclusively by Survey Marketing + Consulting.
