Monroe, WA – Canyon Creek Cabinet Company donated the cabinetry for two new homes in Oregon built for disabled veterans. The homebuilding was spearheaded by Homes For Our Troops (HFOT), a national non-profit organization founded in 2004 to help build new homes for returning veterans with serious disabilities and injuries. HFOT raises money, donated building materials, and professional labor to coordinate the building of accessible homes for service men and women and their immediate families so that they have the ability to live independently.

HFOT has completed, or are in the final production phase for nearly 100 homes across the country. They work closely with the VA to ensure that the homes are provided at no cost to the veteran.

On December 11, 2010, HFOT presented Army SPC Kevin Pannell and his wife, Danielle with the key to their new specially adapted home in Sandy, Oregon. The second home in Parkdale,Oregon for SSG Christian Bagge and wife Melissa, is scheduled for completion in January, and HFOT is still looking for donations of material and professional trades.

Bill Weaver, president & CEO of Canyon Creeks says: “We feel privileged to help two great families who have sacrificed so much for our freedom and wish them the best in their new homes. HFOT is a great program doing great work in taking care of our troops and we are proud to support them.”

Canyon Creek’s Cornerstone cabinets in the Legend door style in beech and in oak were chosen for the two homes, and all cabinetry provided by Canyon Creek met the ADA requirements. Richard Hoefer of River Mill Cabinets in Estacada, Oregon—a Canyon Creek dealer—also donated his time to install the cabinets in the home for Kevin Pannell.
