Cleveland, OH− The YMCA, the nation's leading nonprofit organization, has a storied history of strengthening the community by nurturing the potential of children, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility. In an effort to support that commitment, the Lake County YMCA (Painesville, OH) recently completed its 20th Annual Dream House Fundraiser on August 18th, 2013. All proceeds from the home tour fundraiser’ ticket sales went directly to provide facility and equipment enhancements for all four branches of the Lake County YMCA.

The custom-designed, exquisitely furnished, 4,000-square-foot ranch-style home, located at the Mountainside Farms development in Concord Township, is valued between $450,000-to-$500,000. This year’s winner to the keys of the Dream House were Mike and Amy Caine (Highland Heights, OH) − a couple expecting the birth of their first child in October. With over 60,000 tickets sold, this year’s event has raised a final profit of over $300,000 and has collectively generated over $4 million over its 20-year existence.

The community driven endeavor takes approximately one year to develop and includes over 100 sponsors and 500 volunteers donating construction labor, design services, building materials, elaborate furnishings, and state-of-the-art accents, amongst others. The three-bedroom home features an open floorplan with wide doorways and is completely wheelchair accessible. Additional highlights include a covered porch, a fully finished basement complete with a bar, three fireplaces, and a three-car garage that features the recently introduced UNIQUE LIFT™ space-saving garage storage system.

Developed by Unique Lift LLC (Cleveland, OH), the patent-pending UNIQUE LIFT is an electric/ergonomically engineered storage optimization system that offers consumers an innovative solution to the age-old problem of cluttered chaos in their garage−a perfectly convenient utility to the vision of what a “Dream House” should be. Whereas the lucky winners received the keys to their future home, they also got the keys to one of the most innovative and simple solutions to garage storage on the market today.

Boasting weight capabilities up to 400 lbs., the product features a 32 square foot (4’ x 8’) welded steel storage basket that allows consumers to utilize up to 30” of wasted storage space above their garage door to store almost anything including: lawn furniture, games/toys, pool/landscaping equipment, sporting/hobby gear, bicycles−and beyond. The end result immediately reduces clutter with easy access and requires no use of a dangerous ladder−just the turn of a key and a push of a button.

Notably, over 50,000 people who toured the home during the course of the YMCA event entered and exited through the garage−where fundraiser tickets were also sold.

Visitors were immediately given a first impression of what advanced amenities the Dream House offered by Unique Lift’s distinct storage optimization design concept. The design features a user-friendly master switch box that controls the storage basket attached to four (4) 1/8” heavy duty steel cables (each rated at 2,000 lbs.). These are pulled through a rugged steel gear box and driven by a ½ horse power electric motor. The master switch box offers consumers vital safety features including an interlock garage door limit with garage lift, and an interlock garage lift with garage door operator. Consumers must simply depress and hold the spring-loaded button to operate the lift to their height specifications and use the key switch to control use.

The master switch controls the timing shaft inside the electric box which controls either the “RAISE” or “LOWER” position. As Unique Lift is operating, the timing shaft turns in to work with the lift as limit switches operate off the shaft. As the storage basket reaches the floor, the timing shaft reaches the limit switches to shut off the unit−which can’t be altered. The storage basket sits on the garage floor with cables slightly loose, so they don’t unwind, and end-users can then ergonomically fill the storage basket with a myriad of desired items at floor level. This is also an optimal advantage for wheel chair bound and physically challenged consumers.

Unique Lift was also in daily demonstration during the course of the event as it was used to load and unload the multitude of folding chairs used during each day’s tour activities.

Ultimately, by simply turning the key to either the “RAISE” or “LOWER” position, then depressing and holding the associated button to your desired height−items are either raised for secure storage above your garage door, or delivered down to you for instant, easy, and repeatable access.
