True North Plywood Assist from Local Governments

COCHRANE, ONTARIO - The community of Cochrane is looking at ways to breathe new life into the closed True North Plywood plant and protect 225 community members' jobs.

With support from the province, the Cochrane and Area Community Development Corporation is bringing together a team of experts to assess the plant's current business model. The team's goal is to find new investors for the facility and explore other possible product lines that would make the mill more competitive.

Making infrastructure improvements in Northern Ontario communities is a key component of the plan laid out in Ontario's 2011 Budget - Turning the Corner, to create and support 10,000 new and existing jobs for Ontario families and to strengthen local economies.
