GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Stiles Machinery Inc. donated over 160 multi-functional book cases to Habitat for Humanity at the conclusion of the 2012 International Woodworking Fair (IWF) in Atlanta. IWF is a trade show where woodworking manufacturers source products, learn new ideas, and network with peers.

Stiles Machinery was the largest exhibitor at the 2012 fair and featured a complete representation of equipment aimed to simplify production. The “Tetris” book cases ̶ named because of their resemblance to the Tetris computer game ̶ were created during four daily machine demonstrations through four days of the fair.

“Stiles strives to be a conscientious, green-thinking company,” said Steve Waltman, vice president of marketing and communications. “We look for ways that we can be more resourceful and apply the green practices of reduce, reuse, and recycle.”

Part of Stiles’ green-thinking approach is to reduce waste. “A lot of suppliers demonstrate their equipment at the fair, and then scrap the product at the end of the show,” explains Waltman. “By donating to Habitat for Humanity, we were able to eliminate waste and give back to the community.”

The book cases were enthusiastically received by Habitat for Humanity’s donation center in Atlanta. They will be put to immediate use in newly constructed homes in the area.

Roücke Pressing Technologies, Boise Cascade, Hettich, and Rehau partnered with Stiles in the creation of the Tetris book cases by donating material and hardware.
