EDISON, NJ – Starborn Industries, Inc. recently celebrated its 50th anniversary as a leading designer and supplier of deck screws, fasteners and related products for the building industry. The celebration, held on November 10th at its Edison, New Jersey headquarters, included an evening of wining, dining and gaming. The hundreds of guests who attended were treated to a full evening of food, beverages, music, casino games and multiple prize giveaways.

Paul Gertner, president of Starborn Industries, marked the occasion by briefly highlighting the company’s history, which began in the basement of his parents’ Brooklyn, New York home in 1961. With photos of the company’s history in the background, Gertner proudly reminisced about his company’s growth from a small, family-run wood products company to an international manufacturer of cutting-edge decking products recognized worldwide for the development and distribution of high-quality and innovative fasteners. “My parents,” Gertner said, “successfully laid the groundwork for what is today one of the most respected brands in the fastener marketplace.”

Throughout the 50th anniversary celebration, Starborn guests enjoyed fine food and beverages, while participating in casino-style gaming events that included poker, blackjack, roulette, craps and more. At the end of the night, guests were invited to exchange their free chips for raffle tickets and a chance to win prizes including a 42-inch flat screen television, golf clubs, autographed sports memorabilia and professional hockey tickets.

“It was an exciting, energy-filled night that could not have been more rewarding for everyone involved,” said Larry Crossley, vice president of sales at Starborn Industries. “Everyone had a great time, including some of our oldest customers like Dykes Lumber, who was Starborn’s very first customer in 1961.”

“It was an honor to find out that Dykes was Starborn’s very first customer, and glad to be part of this very special event,” said Hank Claussen of Dykes Lumber. “They have been a valuable and reliable business partner for 50 years. We would enjoy nothing more than to extend this relationship for another five decades.”

After relocating several times to accommodate ongoing growth opportunities, Starborn today makes its home in a modern packaging and distribution facility located in Edison, New Jersey, where the company currently serves thousands of stores and customers worldwide.

Over the past half-century, Starborn has introduced important new fastening technologies and systems that have greatly improved deck construction.
