Riviere-du-Loup and Les Basques Businesses Canada Grants

SAINT-ANTONIN, QUEBEC-  Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED): Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, announces that three enterprises from the regional county municipalities (RCMs) of Rivière-du-Loup and Les Basques have been granted financial assistance to improve their productivity.

This support has been awarded in the form of three repayable contributions totalling $784,750 through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Three Rivière-du-Loup and Les Basques RCM businesses receive support from the Government of Canada

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, announces that three enterprises from the regional county municipalities (RCMs) of Rivière-du-Loup and Les Basques have been granted financial assistance to improve their productivity.

Usinage F. R. Repayable contribution of $271,000 on a total investment of $798,000

This Saint-Antonin SME specializes in the manufacture, modification and assembly of machined equipment parts made of steel, stainless steel, aluminium and plastic for the manufacturing industry. The primary customers of Usinage F. R. are large enterprises operating in the transportation and recreational vehicle, furniture, medical equipment and industrial machinery sectors.

The project being undertaken by this 13-employee firm consists of purchasing specialized equipment and expanding its plant in order to increase manufacturing capacity and improve productivity. This project will bring about the creation of two new jobs.

Bélisle Ancestral Doors & Windows Inc. Repayable contribution of $149,000 on a total investment of $358,000

Bélisle Ancestral Doors & Windows Inc. (formerly Menuiserie Bélisle Inc.) specializes in the manufacture of high-end wood doors and windows. The company, which is located in the municipality of Saint-Jean-de-Dieu in the Les Basques RCM, employs some 30 people.

The firm's project consists of implementing a market development strategy in the United States over the next two years. To that end, Bélisle Ancestral Doors & Windows intends to hire a sales representative in the United States, update its brand image, revamp its Website, develop and distribute promotional materials and advertisements and take part in trade shows and commercial fairs.

Verbois Inc. Repayable contribution of $364,750 on a total investment of $1,014,660

Verbois Inc. designs and manufactures mid-range and high-end contemporary furniture made of durable materials like glass, birch wood and aluminium. The products manufactured by this 38-employee firm include dining room, office and bedroom furniture, side tables and living room furnishings.

The contribution will go to financing the expansion of the company's Rivière-du-Loup plant and the acquisition of manufacturing equipment, improvements that will allow Verbois to increase its manufacturing capacity in order to meet the growing demand and develop new markets for its products.
