More than 4,600 entries from 54 different countries were submitted to the Red Dot Award jury in the “Product Design 2013” category. Three products at once from polymer specialist REHAU won the coveted international prize. The award ceremony was held in Essen a short time ago.
This product design competition has been held since 1955. The award, the “Red Dot”, is a globally renowned quality seal. More than 4,600 entries were placed before the prestigious Red Dot Award jury in the “Product Design” category this year. Every one of them was tested, discussed and assessed by the experts over several days.
Polymer specialist REHAU succeeded in winning the award for a total of three products. One was for the company’s subsurface heating and cooling system room controller unit. This innovation was launched this very year at the ISH construction industry trade fair held in Frankfurt am Main, where, with its attractive-sounding name of “Nea”, it was a major hit due to its attractive design, the ease with which it is installed and operated plus its wealth of special functions. The other two of the polymer specialist’s prizewinning products are also to be found in the home – in the kitchen. These are the glass laminate for furniture fronts plus matching glass-look laser edgeband, both launched on the market this year. Both won the “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2013”. The innovations are impressive in terms of more than simplified manufacturing processes. With these innovations REHAU makes it possible to create expansive glass-look furniture fronts with three-dimensional depth, modern transparency and a wide range of fabrication options. These are plus points to impress kitchen manufacturers and their customers alike. In combination, the glass laminate and the laser edgeband provide a further advantage: as the components are laser-welded and not bonded with adhesive, there are no joints! This solution provides visual perfection and is easy to clean.
REHAU is engaged in providing a sustainable contribution to the environmental and economic challenges of the future in the fields of energy efficient construction, using renewable forms of energy, systems for water management, new mobility concepts plus future ways of life. Expertise and love of innovation have made the company the leading provider of polymer-based system and service solutions for the construction, automotive and industry sectors. For REHAU, global success as a leading premium brand depends on its passion for finding fascinating and unlimited potential uses for polymer materials. Approximately 17,000 employees working at over 170 sites around the world achieve growth and success for REHAU.
