Neumarkt – The wood-based panel manufacturer Pfleiderer has been awarded the „Blauer Engel" (“Blue Angel”) award yet again: Apart from DecoBoard P2 UZ, different variants of its formaldehyde-free glued LivingBoard can now carry the coveted environmental seal, which for 37 years has stood for particularly environmentally friendly and low-emission products.

Formaldehyde-free glued and tried and tested for decades

"LivingBoard has been the epitome of healthy wood and interiors for just as long, since 1978", noted Claus Seemann, who heads the product management of the core materials at Pfleiderer. LivingBoard has also been tried and tested for decades in different core forms (P4, P5 or as the face variant), says Seemann: "Made of low-resin wood from sustainable forest management, without recycling material and formaldehyde-free glued, these panels – then just as today – are always the first choice where owners and developers value particularly low-emission materials."

With the "Blue Angel" for living board, in future it will be even easier for discerning customers to make the right choice of materials. "After all, this seal not only stands for a lead in environmental and health protection", explains Seemann: "The "Blue Angel" is only given to those products that also have convincingly high quality and a long life."

Absolutely safe to use and optimum in offcuts

This is doubtlessly the case with LivingBoard. With its balanced strength properties in all directions, this uniform wood-based material panel is absolutely safe to use and optimum in offcuts. "And as the PU bonding is moisture resistant", added Seemann, "the risk of mould growth is reduced to a minimum, even in damp areas."

In addition, as a GreenBuilding product, it is also recognised for its low VOC emissions and formaldehyde-free gluing and is the only wood-based material panel in the standard product range which is also LEED certifiable when laminated as DecoBoard Living.
