ORGATEC 2012 with World Festival of Interiors The “World Festival of Interiors” will take place in parallel to the next ORGATEC (23rd – 27th October 2012 in Cologne). Koelnmesse, the organiser of ORGATEC - the leading international trade fair for office and facility, and Emap, the organiser of the World Festival of Interiors, have established a partnership accordingly. The Rheinsaal in Koelnmesse’s Congress Centre North will be the venue for the World Festival of Interiors 2012 from 23rd to 25th October. Festival participants also will be entitled to free admission to ORGATEC 2012. Trade visitors attending ORGATEC can purchase day tickets for the World Festival of Interiors at special discount prices. ORGATEC will thus offer architects, interior designers and designers from all over the world an exciting event format concentrating on outstanding interior design projects and their creators. The festival allows architects and designers to enjoy a lively sharing of experience and mutually inspire one another - and to recognize pioneering interior design concepts and their designers. The highlight of the festival, after all, is a prestigious international awards programme. The agenda also includes a curated exhibition, talks by experts and interactive discussions.

The international awards programme is the heart of the World Festival of Interiors, which will premiere on 2nd and 3rd November 2011 in Barcelona. Renowned designers from around the world will gather at the festival to compete for the awards presented in honour of the past year’s best interior design concepts in various categories. The festival is a good fit for ORGATEC because most of the categories include interior concepts for offices and other facility buildings. The award will be presented in the categories “Office”, “Hotels”, “Transport” (including airports and railway stations), “Health” (including hospitals and medical practices), “Culture and Civic” (including public administration locations), “Education” (schools, universities and nurseries), “Creative Re-Use” (conversion and revitalisation of existing buildings) “Bars and Restaurants“, “Retail“, “Display“ and “Residential“. In addition, the interdisciplinary “World Interior of the Year Prize“ will be presented. During the run-up to the festival an international jury of leading experts will decide which projects will be shortlisted. During the festival the creators of these shortlisted Page projects are invited to not only exhibit their interior concepts in the Awards Gallery; they also present and discuss their projects live in front of the jury and
festival participants. The awards ceremony will also take place during the festival, after the jury has made its decisions. Each award-winner will be interviewed on site. The agenda will feature further discussions that are unrelated to the competition entries and address topics of current interest in the sector. The festival will be completed with other accompanying events.
