West Chicago, IL – For the most critical behavioral healthcare applications, practitioners rely on the Attenda® series of patient room furniture. Attenda® is a unique collection of special needs beds and complementary storage units designed specifically to reduce safety hazards while offering design versatility and extreme durability.
The Attenda® bed’s advanced construction provides a molded, one-piece sleep surface with rounded corners. These problem-solver beds are designed to bolt securely to the floor with a durable exterior surface that is impervious to fluids. The Attenda® Bed and the new Attenda® Bed Riser allow for a staff-friendly bed height to help reduce back strain, as well as for easy patient egress and convenient use of a patient lift device. According to Brad Karl, Norix Product Manager, the bed height and the ability to use patient lift devices are critical safety issues for patients AND staff. “The new Attenda Riser raises the bed height a full eight inches which enables staff members to administer to patients more easily. Patient egress from the bed is also enhanced – which is particularly helpful for geriatric patients. And the unique design of the new riser permits the use of patient lift devices – without frames or legs that may pose a patient safety concern.”
The Attenda® series is preferred by mental health practitioners because of its non-porous one-piece construction – with no seams, frames or moving parts. The furniture is filled with rigid polyurethane foam for increased durability and sound absorption. There are three bed styles to choose from as well as coordinating nightstands, chests, desks and shelving units – all molded from high-impact polymer that is tamper-resistant and easily sanitized.
The Attenda® series is available in a broad range of color combinations derived from Norix’ own Naturals Color Collection. Developed by healthcare design consultant Tara Rae Hill, of Little Fish Think Tank, the rich hues of the Naturals Color Collection draw upon the science and theory of color as both a design tool and as a promoter of healing.
